Lady is an important gal, because she represents a new start. We sold ALL of our Nigerians in 2017 and started back in 2018. She was one of the first kids we retained moving forward. To think I almost sold her as a kid makes me shudder. She has a few faults, her poor attitude being one of them. I can overlook all the less than ideal parts simply because of how important she is to me. She has aged, but her udder has held up remarkably well. She will live out her days with us, no matter what she does in the future.

Lucy was born later in the year than Lady, but she still represents a special time for us. We have a special love for her, and she is the sweetest girl on top of it. Not to mention she is an exceptionally easy keeper on top of that. Conformationally, she has some flaws. Her udder is where she excels. I wish I could stick it on half of the does in our herd. She has been very, very stingy with does during her lifetime. She is known here for her fairly large litters of bucks. We don't have any does from her in our herd currently. Most were sold due to being dam raised and hard to catch. We have since changed our management methods and should not have that issue moving forward. Provided she gives us girls in the coming years, they will likely all remain here.

Nala, sweet Nala. Nala's dam died in a horrific somewhat sneaky kidding disaster while I was recovering after a hospital stay from covid, but not before getting Nala out and dried off. Nala was a house goat for a bit after that! I have always admired her general appearance, but her udder has never wowed me. Sure, it is a productive udder. Its texture is like butter and is one of the easiest udders, if not the easiest, to hand milk. She is an excellent dairy goat, no doubt about it. It just isn't the high, super-duper socked on show quality udder everyone (including me) desires. Her kids generally have super correct conformation; in the style of goat I prefer.

Red is one of our most favorite homebred does and is related to lots of other favorite goats. She can be a little particular about who catches her and when, but we are willing to overlook that. She comes in to be milked and is very easy to handle otherwise. Red's dam was sold as a first freshener because her udder didn't quite meet our expectations, and boy, do we regret it. Red has been bred twice a year her for the first 2.5 years of her life. While that is NOT ideal and is NOT something we would recommend, it is a fact, and we would like to be upfront about it. We had several traumatic life events seemingly back-to-back that made our breeding seasons slightly chaotic. The good news is, she bounced back amazingly each time. We have a few offspring and plan to retain more.
In 2024, Red won two legs. The last leg was won by my daughter, Emma. We were hit by a drunk driver on the way home from the show, and Emma did not survive the crash. Red will stay on the farm until the end of her days, for Emma.
Crosby Lake Farm Sovereign

DOB 8/24/2024
Curly Goose TW SnapCracklePop *B x Crosby Lake Farm Philadelphia
Sovi is one of the most promising first fresheners ever born here. That would be extraordinarily exciting; however, BOTH of her parents were sold before I realized how much I would like her. Luckily, I have a lot of homegrown relatives, and a few goats I have brought in are loosely related. She also provided the best present ever for her first freshening- a single doe! Naturally, she stayed. Sovi is a member of our patriotic line. As you scroll through our homebred does, you will notice we tend to keep those around.
Better Wayz Talia

DOB: 2/11/2025
Better Wayz Swiss Mister *B x Better Wayz Sunflower
Sweet Talia came down from Kathy at Better Wayz in early Spring of 2025 as a bottle baby. I had been searching for some proven, outside genetics and found it with this girl (and her "sister", Tawny). Talia is so pretty on the move. She's sharp, angular, and looks like a large breed dairy goat waltzing around here. I am hopeful she matures into something glorious and gives us lovely doe kids to integrate into our program.
As of early 2026, she kidded with triplets and we retained the doe kid. So far, she is doing exactly what we hoped.

When we were on the hunt for some goats of particular ages to add to our show string, Stacie with Fairytale Nigerians gave us the opportunity to add two yearlings. Liberty was one of the two. She is very well put together, if you can look through her fluff. She is slightly over conditioned and unfortunately did not settle for Spring 2026. We plan to get some weight off over winter and get her bred for a late 2026 kidding. Fingers crossed her udder is as appealing as the rest of her.
Crosby Lake Farm Terk

DOB: 10/4/2025
3G Family Farm SharpDressedMan x Crosby Lake Farm Caroline
Terk is loosely related to our oldest homebred does on her dam side and is sired by our buck from 3G Family Farm. I have high hopes she grows into a productive, correct doe. Her dam was an off and on resident here but ultimately did not have the temperament to be a show doe. She was very friendly but did not like to walk in a show ring.
Crosby Lake Farm Turning Point, "Charlie"

DOB: 10/7/2025
3G Family Farm SharpDressedMan x Crosby Lake Farm Sovereign
Charlie was a single doe kid born from our most promising first freshener in the fall of 2025. Combined with her sire, a young and equally exciting buck from 3G Family Farm, I have high hopes for this little girl!
Crosby Lake Farm Theia

DOB: 10/10/2025
3G Family Farm SharpDressedMan x 3G Family Farm FR Kore VGVV 87
Theia and her littermate sister are from a very exciting 2025 pairing. We added her dam, Kore, in 2024 to add to our showstring. Unfortunately, Kore freshened with an uneven udder and could not be shown. All mastitis cultures were negative. Kore left to join another farm, and we kept both doelings to use in our breeding program moving forward.

True is a doe of our patriotic line. Those does tend to have very correct general appearance, and we hope for the same from her. We sold her dam due to slight temperament issues and the need to continue working toward improving our herd.

Two Tone's dam, Anni was purchased exposed. I cannot begin to describe the excitement when she kidded with such a stunning single doe kid. Naturally, she was retained.

Twix is a third generation MDGA Mini Nubian. We have thing for ears and cannot thank Michelle at Crooked Oak Farm enough for sharing her wonderful goats with us. She is the absolute sweetest doe. If you've never had a Nubian or Mini Nubian, you really don't know what you are missing.
